An excellent supplement to Michael Long's "First Class Citizenship: The Civil Rights Letters of Jackie Robinson." Taken together, both books demonstrate Jackie Robinson's vital role as an informal civil rights leader and support Robinson's often quoted comment that "life is not a spectator sport."
