YA A detailed critical analysis of guitar innovators from the four basic genres of pop music: blues, country, jazz and rock. In a series of critical essays, Kienzle examines approximately 60 guitarists. Primary essays, four to five pages in length, cover such greats as Elmore James, Chet Atkins, Django Reinhardt and Jimi Hendrix. Secondary essays are one page in length and discuss artists like Muddy Waters, Junior Barnard, Oscar Moore and Stevie Ray Vaughan. Kienzle gives detailed tracings of stylistic approach and growth interspersed with some biographical information. He also describes the individual's contribution and influence on the genre as a whole. Kienzle's knowledge, combined with a lucid text, makes this book accessible to both serious researchers and browsers alike. Typical poor entry of possible good book i might have bought.

This may be the best book on guitarists since sliced bread was first made, but Amazon only show the front page. For someone to buy an article or item they need more information, before I waste my limited cash on the wrong book.
A front and back page along with a contents page should be the very minimum shown on each entry. Ideally one or two other pages showing style and substance would help prospective buyers.
Until then I do not know whether to believe the only review.
I can not judge it ( the book) against any comparable other volume I seek and do not want to commit my money after such poor information is supplied.
Therefore i will not be buying the book.... and the seller has lost out on a potential sale. and Amazon has disappointed me, again when many, many other entries are just as poor as this. in fact , no help at all, so mean no sale.

Great, and well written overview of the top guitarists.

Although out of print, this is well worth searching out, as it is one of the best overviews of the top guitarists of the past 60 years.
